You download a client that has Good graphics support. COW can do it, if you download and unpack the pixmaps file. Exactly how to do this depends on the operating system you are using. I've got a web page that makes suggestions after asking you questions; http://netrek.hwy.com.au/download.phtml I just tested it, and it appears to work. It had been broken, but of course nobody told me. ;-) -- James Cameron mailto:quozl@us.netrek.org http://quozl.netrek.org/ _______________________________________________ vanilla-clients mailing list vanilla-clients@us.netrek.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/vanilla-clients From quozl at us.netrek.org Thu Nov 6 11:29:01 2003 From: quozl at us.netrek.org (James Cameron) Date: Wed Jan 12 00:50:15 2005 Subject: [Netrek Clients] COWS client In-Reply-To: <000001c3588f$4eec9140$6701a8c0@DGALLAGH1> References: <000001c3588f$4eec9140$6701a8c0@DGALLAGH1> Message-ID: <20030823052851.GC21507@us.netrek.org> Thank you for your problem report. The problem you experienced was: Tried to write 5, 0x247f460, 12 write: The socket is not connected gwrite failed. Whoops! We've been ghostbusted! Pray for a miracle! Waiting for connection (port 11687) This can have multiple causes. The most common causes are firewall software, firewall hardware, network address translation gateways, and ISP filtering. Things you could try; - try the Netrek XP client, - add the "portSwap: true" line to netrekrc, - turn off UDP in netrekrc, - configure your firewall to allow UDP packets, Hopefully someone else will have some ideas too. I don't do Windows. -- James Cameron mailto:quozl@us.netrek.org http://quozl.netrek.org/ _______________________________________________ vanilla-clients mailing list vanilla-clients@us.netrek.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/vanilla-clients From vanillatrek at yahoo.com Sat Nov 1 18:48:00 2003 From: vanillatrek at yahoo.com (Zach) Date: Wed Jan 12 00:51:54 2005 Subject: [Vanilla List] Patch to replace varargs with stdarg In-Reply-To: <20031030031108.48B1E3FC47@www.fastmail.fm> Message-ID: <20031102004800.23045.qmail@web21106.mail.yahoo.com> Cool.
