Although the first newbie patch was approved... It never seemed to have made it into the repository in www.netrek.org. I went ahead and re-downloaded the latest: darcs get http://www.netrek.org/repos/netrek-server/ Then, manually applied my changes. Then did a: darcs record and darcs send -o newbiepatch.dpatch Here is the attached file. Hopefully, it will make it in netrek.org and stay there this time.
