In windows, BO and VNC do pretty much the same thing, but VNC tells you what it does and has an uninstaller and other nifty stuff. Even runs as a NT service so you can login via vnc instead of having to go to the workstation and login (maybe BO will do this?) It's also rather easy to forward VNC over ssh.
