No problems, except since you need to buy a new mainboard anyway, you should
upgrade to a Socket A instead of a Slot A.  The CPU will be a little cheaper
and the board has a better upgrade path.  Socket A goes beyond the 1 Gig
level and Slot A is limited to 1 Gig.  I just upgraded my board to the ABIT
KA7-100 (Slot A) because I intended to keep using my old Athlon 600, which
was slot A.  I have been using it with Linux and FreeBSD for over a year
without a problem.
