Check this link out: http://www.arrayservices.com/projects/Exchange-HOWTO/html/book1.html It's not Exchange compatible, but it probably has similar functionality. I wouldn't know I've had very little exposure to Exchange. The project uses sendmail and ldap for email and directory services. Both sendmail and ldap can 'cluster'.
