Well, sound cards predate PCI by quite a few years
also, but that doesn't mean there aren't PCI sound cards.  ;P

If we're talking about a new PCMCIA controller, it should
look like just another PCI device - just like onboard sound,
onboard ethernet, onboard video, etc, etc.

PCMCIA predates PCI by quite a few years...
