Actually, the file size limit is file system limit, not a Linux limit. ext2 has a file size limit of 2GB on 32-bit systems. ReiserFS is larger, I believe, and if you're running Windows, NTFS has unlimited file size on 32-bit systems. It all depends on the quality of the file system.
