Even though it's a windows machine the slashes still go forward (//host/share) Try mount -t smbfs -o username=XXXXX,password=YYYYY,netbiosname=whatever,ip=ipofhostyouremounting,workgroup=workgroup //server/share /mnt/whatever You must do the above as root. smbmount is intended to be called from mount, just use the options you need.
