Place your password in a 0700 permission file in /etc. Call it something like /etc/smbmnt-password. In /etc/init.d/autofs add this line: if [ -f /etc/smbmnt-passwd ] ; then SMBPASSWD=`cat /etc/smbmnt-passwd` export SMBPASSWD fi There are other env variables you can use.
