I belong APICS here (www.apicstc.org), and they have a lending library, but
want $5.00 per book to ship and only let you have it for 4 weeks.  I think
that's a little steep and too short a time for some books.

How about having people check them out via e-mail/web and then bring them to
monthly meetings/installfests unless they are willing to pay freight, then
they could get them immediately.

I agree, retrieving them could be a problem.  Look at how long it took Yaron
to get rid of the Loki games, and they were even paid for!  Maybe a limit on
number of books checked out at one time and public embarrassment on the list
if they are out too long :)
