For video content, or where throughput is a priority, Raid 3 fits the need best. It has a very high read and write speeds, with little effect on throughput in the event of a drive failure. A low ratio of parity drives to data drives increases efficiency (the more data drives the better). However, it is complex to perform Raid 3 as a "software Raid".
