You've confused Red Hat with Microsoft again, last I saw, Red Hat was still releasing security updates for 7.3, and not-all-that-long-ago, finally stopped releasing security updates for 6.x For what it's worth, he should be using apt4rpm instead of up2date, it doesn't require the annoyances of a survey. -- Matthew S.
