Thanks Mike, what I'm not sure on the understanding of it is how it can ruin
a drive.  I can understand R/W media being turned into a coaster, but the
way I read the article is that it destroys the drive itself.

If the kernel/system makes repeated calls to read the head, I could see over
time it ruining the drive.  But I still don't see how this particular issue
can destroy a drive itself (not the media).
