Looking through both the /etc/modules.conf and /etc/modprobe.conf it appears that all that really is done in those files are kernel modules being aliased, unless the act of aliasing the module also loads it???. What file tells the system to load which modules on intialization? And secondly can modules be specified on a kernel by kernel basis? For example i compiled one kernel with just the VESA framebuffer and another one with the Radeon framebuffer driver (ATI 9700 Pro) so i can use higher refresh rates. So on the first no extra video driver modules are needed but on the second i need to load the readeonfb kernel module. Both the /etc/modules.conf and the /etc/modprobe.conf are going to be referenced by all kernels right? Any clarification would be really apreciated, Thanks, _______________________________________________ TCLUG Mailing List - Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota Help beta test TCLUG's potential new home: http://plone.mn-linux.org Got pictures for TCLUG?
