If that's the case, are you sure you didn't put the static on the cable modem side of the ATA? That would really hose it up as you would never be able to get back to their network. Not sounding good. As far as recovering it, set a box up behind it and port scan whatever the web page port is on the entire /16. A little tedious, but it'll guarantee that you didn't remember the wrong IP/fat fingered the IP. If you get a response, you should be golden. If no response, try plugging it into the CM side of the ATA and run the scan again. Try using nmap if you use a linux box. ============================ Daniel Rysztak, CCNP http://www.druids-grove.net/ -----Original Message----- From: tclug-list-bounces at mn-linux.org [mailto:tclug-list-bounces at mn-linux.org]On Behalf Of Tim Wilson Sent: Friday, May 07, 2004 8:13 AM To: TCLUG Subject: Re: [TCLUG] [OT] wrong netmask wreaks havoc On 5/7/04 8:49 AM, "Sam MacDonald" <smac at visi.com> wrote: > Have you tried setting up an isolated network? > A hub, a pc, and the device. > Then try to connect to it. Essentially, yes. I plugged the ATA directly into my cable modem and the PC into the ATA. The rest of my network was disconnected. Unfortunately, it also seems that the ATA won't start up completely (i.e., the built-in Web server won't work) if it can't connect to the Vonage servers. So creating a separate, disconnected network doesn't look like an option. :-( -Tim -- Tim Wilson Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Educational technology guy, Linux and OS X fan, Grad. student, Daddy mailto: wilson at visi.com aim: tis270 public key: 0x8C0F8813 _______________________________________________ TCLUG Mailing List - Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota http://www.mn-linux.org tclug-list at mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-list _______________________________________________ TCLUG Mailing List - Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota http://www.mn-linux.org tclug-list at mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-list
