WINE and Cedega will have plenty of time to catch up. Application
developers will continue to support Windows XP, and probally 2000 for
some time yet. It seems likely DirectX 10 will be released for Windows
XP.

Thanks to game servers running on Windows 2003 Server, the game
servers will continue to support Windows Server 2003 well into the
next decade.

I don't see Windows XP support from appliction developers dropping off
until 2009-2010ish. OEMs and retailers will still have to clear any
remaining Windows XP machines after Vista is released. In 2006 or
2007...
