It doesn't deliver sound and an SMTP client i.e. something that
doesn't have to login. While the tool is good for a NOC that 
sits and literally focusing on *the* screen all day for alarms, 
sounds and mail-2-pager gateway [ read: smtp client to sendmail/alias ]
is what would put me over the top for NavisAccess.

I spoke to someone at Internet Expo/NYC and didn't get a warm
and fuzzy feeling that Ascend was as open as above to adding
these features. 

MRTG can be customized to do it, in conjunction with NOCOL.
