(ASCEND) Requested disconnect not clean, why?

When I exit out of the terminal server after dialing up, the ascend
simply drops carrier instead of sending a v42 DISC signal.  This means
that the client side modem goes into multiple retrains before deciding
carrier was lost... not very clean.  This is on the k56 modems, so this
may be an issue with the rockwell chip... anyone else seeing this?

(Class: minor annoyance, mostly noticable when I'm dialing a bunch of
times from one site to see how the connect rate varies)
