I have a Max 200 deployed in the UK. It ran ok for about 5 days. Then suddenly I can not ping it. I had pcAnywhere installed on a PC on that segment and I ran the Max 200 config software on that box. It could not see the Max. I have them reboot. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes not. More often not. So..I have them send back the Max to me here in Cupertino, CA. And I ship them a replacement. Time goes by..the same type of story in the UK. I try to config the returned Max and notice that the Max 200 config software can not see it here. A brain-storm...I jam the RJ45 connector further into the socket even thought it's clicked in. Suddenly the config sw can see the max. I have the guys in the UK try this and then they can see the Max their. Again last night we lost connectivity to the ukmax. Again I had them push in the cable..voila back on line. I may have a similar situation in Singapore with a Max 200 there. Getting these things shipped and through customs is a nightmare. Anyone have a good workaround solution for this (what appears to be) OSI layer 1 problem? Bubble gum in the ethernet port? Superglue? :-)))

Received: from SMTP (155.64.76.27) by smtp-ima.symantec.com with SMTP (IMA Internet Exchange 2.1 Enterprise) id 00023703; Wed, 25 Jun 97 09:07:24 -0700 Received: from Mailer.symantec.com ([198.6.49.5]) by 155.64.76.27 (Norton AntiVirus for Internet Email Gateways 1.0) ; Wed, 25 Jun 1997 16:06:17 0000 (GMT) Received: from max.bungi.com (max.bungi.com [207.126.97.7]) by Mailer.symantec.com (8.8.4/8.7.6) with SMTP id JAA10309 for <MMedwid@symantec.com>; Wed, 25 Jun 1997 09:19:58 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from majordom@localhost) by max.bungi.com (8.6.12/8.6.9) id HAA13041 for ascend-users-outgoing; Wed, 25 Jun 1997 07:05:19 -0700 Received: from daver.bungi.com (daver.bungi.com [207.126.97.2]) by max.bungi.com (8.6.12/8.6.9) with ESMTP id HAA13034 for <ascend-users@max.bungi.com>; Wed, 25 Jun 1997 07:05:12 -0700 Received: from Mailer.symantec.com(really [198.6.49.5]) by daver.bungi.com via sendmail with esmtp id <m0wgsh5-00004NC@daver.bungi.com> for <ascend-users@bungi.com>; Wed, 25 Jun 1997 07:05:11 -0700 (PDT) (Smail-3.2.0.94 1997-Apr-22 #8 built 1997-Jun-19) Received: from smtp-ima.symantec.com ([155.64.76.13]) by Mailer.symantec.com (8.8.4/8.7.6) with SMTP id HAA00652 for <ascend-users@bungi.com>; Wed, 25 Jun 1997 07:18:50 -0700 (PDT) Received: from ccMail by smtp-ima.symantec.com (IMA Internet Exchange 2.1 Enterprise) id 00022F6A; Wed, 25 Jun 97 07:03:51 -0700 Mime-Version: 1.0 Date: Wed, 25 Jun 1997 06:59:24 -0700 Message-ID: <00022F6A.3152@symantec.com> From: MMedwid@symantec.com (Michael Medwid) Subject: (ASCEND) Amazing Disappearing Max 200 To: ascend-users@bungi.com Cc: NMarshall@symantec.com (Nicole Marshall), RBoozer@symantec.com (Ray Boozer), SCundall@symantec.com (Steve Cundall) Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: cc:Mail note part Sender: owner-ascend-users@max.bungi.com Precedence: bulk

Prev by Date: (ASCEND) P75 loses ability to dial

Next by Date: (ASCEND) Pipeline and ISDN phone

Prev by thread: (ASCEND) Amazing Disappearing Max 200

Next by thread: (ASCEND) SNMP on Channelized E1

Index(es):

Main

Thread
