(ASCEND) Max upgradabiity

ahh... c'mon! This is just some EE undergrad project ready to turn into a
little side business! I've seen more 'closed' systems get hacked up
upgrades than I care to admit.

What's the market share of the Max 4K series? 8K units? At $500/unit...
someone wouldn't need to graduate... =)
