we have again *serios* problems with on of our MAX4000. He runs for 5-6 days and then reboots. We have a terminal attached at the ascend. This seem to stop the booting process !!!. If i turn on the terminal, i´m asked to press a key. Why doesnt the ascend reboot when a terminal is attached (and switched off) ? Thank to the really good dokumentation we always know where to search for the error. Hi Kevin, dont take this personally, but it is really frustrating to pay 25.000 $ for a MAX4000 here in Germany, getting a handbook with a index with is a running-gag but no index and to live with a product which is not stable. When we bought our Ascend routers we expected to throw away any problems we had with our FreeBSD + SCO Systems + Modems, but the current software has too many bugs. Ascend claims to be the market leader, but the question is how long anymore ?. Livingston is much much cheaper and cisco has features, ascend doesnt want to support (e.g semi permanent connections). Does anybody have a list of Index-Numners ? Who is running a MAX4000 with one E1/PRI for dial-up and DM8 Cards *without* rebooting problems. We tried all Versions from 5.0A+ to 5.0Ap5. I think we will switch back to 4.6C. With 5.0A+ we only saw Index: 175, yesterday fatal shows: WARNING: Index: 175 Load: ei.m40 Revision: 5.0Ap5 Date: 05/10/1997.
