I have (2) MAX 4004's and would like to make use of the proclaimed "Stack" option with PRI lines terminating into both hubs, users dialing a single number to gain access to either box, and the MAX's looking like a single unit (MP across the chassis). Our customer base (hardware) consist of analog and TA modems with single static (for security reasons-private network) IP addresses, as well as several PXX Ascend routers who's address ranges are broken up into small 29 bit (255.255.255.248) subnets. The MAX's are connected to a Cisco 7000 running OSPF to the rest our network. The Cisco interface (serial LAN port) which connects to the MAX's have static routes assigned to MAX #1 to include the class B subnets given to this Dial-Up project. MAX #2 is currently unused and is strictly a hot standby. So...we do not want to enter static addresses into the Cisco's and would like to implement the Stack option. Am I assuming correctly that I must enable "Send-RipV2" in the MAX, RIPV2 in the Cisco, and the Cisco would then be able to propagate the subnets to the rest of the network (both host based routes from the single IP address community and 29 bit subnets from the PXX community)? Obviously I'm not much of an expert on routing protocols and any help here would be greatly appreciated.
