Problem: Everytime a client tries to save any document or simply opens the Explorer or My Computer, the router makes a connection. It seems like win 95 needs to verify the networked drives and their connections. This generates an IPX packet. Since there is a connection open everytime explorer is open, even though the user did not want a networked drive, phone bill is always unacceptable. Ho can one disable this "Network Browsing" effect? The perfect situation would be to only make a connection when there is an actual request from a networked drive. Also, the users sometimes lockup in their applications for unkown reasons. They don't lockup when the router conection is removed. We have concluded that these problems are a combination of WIN95, Novell 32bit Client, Microsoft Client and the Ascend IPX Routing. Please let us know how to fix this browsing problem and also inform us of any other IS professionals that are experiencing this situation.
