(ASCEND) SNMP the hard way

Hi,

one of my customers is having troubles with what seems to be the "HDLC
bug". ISDN calls are not processed after a while of normal operation.
They just hang while "Connected". It's a MAX1800 w/ 8 Mod card, running
5.0Ap27.

I found that booting the MAX every 3-4 days helps.

Last saturday though it caught me bad: I couldn't connect from my office
to issue the "reset" command in debug mode. Ouch.

Now, there is no SNMP around, not in the MAX's network (just about 200
hosts...:-), and not in my 1-host-network. Question to the Knowing Ones:
is there a way to cause the MAX to reboot using SNMP commands without a
SNMP beast like HP OV? Say, an awk script?
Or do I have to throw 80 connect requests plus Immed Modem feature at it
? ;->

My plan is to set up a script on some UNIX host in the local network
which sleeps 2 days and then...zilch. Not nice, but better than a
complete standstill.

Any ideas welcome, a fixed patch release _very_ welcome.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen / Best regards,

   Dr. W. Beneicke
