(ASCEND) TNT 1.3Ap13



This release (and release docs) will be posted on the FTP site by the end
of day
today.

***** EVEN IF YOU'VE UPGRADED THE TNT WITH A 'TAR' LOAD BEFORE. THERE ARE
***** CHANGES TO THE PROCESS.

1.3Ap13 for the MAX TNT has been given to support.  This release contains
the following modifications:

Corrections:

2605   Fatal-error 8 seen in previous releases has been fixed.
2629   MAX TNT could lose its configuration following a system crash or reset.
2630   Some V.32bis modems had difficulty connecting to 56K modems due to
V.8bis tone.
2648   RADIUS accounting sometimes reported incorrect information for async
PPP calls.
2666   After 7 to 24 hours, individual E1 channels using R2 signaling
became inoperative.
2696   Network Management option could not be enabled with the update hash
code.
250071 RADIUS accounting packet octet counts were inaccurate.
250108 Call rejected with more modems in use than callers.
250127 CIDR routing caused low memory conditions.
N/A    56K modem cards showed a low sync rate on a heavily loaded system.
N/A    System sometimes reset with fatal-error 2 after several days of
heavy load.
N/A    RADIUS initialization on slave-shelf 56K modem cards failed
intermittently.
N/A    HDLC cards sometimes operated slowly under light load.
N/A    Heavy TCP-clear traffic caused intermittent modem resets.
N/A    Memory problems occurred when two flash cards were installed.
N/A    A write error occurred when loading code to flash.
N/A    User names could be reported inaccurately in SNMP accounting events.
N/A    TCP-clear sessions could generate extra SNMP name or service change
events.
N/A    Writing a T1 or E1 profile with  invalid index could generate a
fatal-error 1.
N/A    User names were sometimes incorrect in RADIUS accounting packets.
N/A    RADIUS accounting ON and OFF packets sometimes timed out.
N/A    CLID and DNIS were not contained in some syslog messages.
N/A    SNMP accounting progress codes and disconnect reasons were incorrect
for immediate TCP sessions.
N/A    Ethernet card failed to come up under certain conditions.
N/A    PPP and immediate TCP clear sessions invoked from the terminal
server now use memory more efficiently.
N/A    ICMP redirects were not sent in some instances.
N/A    VJ compression modem sessions now function with a smaller number of
slots.
N/A    Fatal Error 102 sometimes occurred on 56K-modem cards.
N/A    Ethernet, HDLC, and modem cards sometimes crashed.
N/A    Out-of-memory error on the shelf-controller has been fixed.
N/A    HDLC cards could occasionally crash under heavy traffic.
N/A    Ethernet card could sometimes generate a Fatal Error 8.
N/A    Rockwell K56 1.140 code fixes abnormal disconnects on K56 modems.
N/A    Coredump fixes.
N/A    T-Online: The MAX TNT can now dialout MP+ calls when T-Online is
enabled.
N/A    T-Online: Calling DTPT Connection profile made LAN inaccessible.
N/A    T-Online: Problem 503 has been fixed.
N/A    T-Online: Problem 30965 has been fixed.
N/A    Potential memory leaks were fixed.
N/A    Slot cards reset when trying to log Warning 104.
N/A    Ethernet slot card crashed when Proxy ARP was enabled.
N/A    Multi-shelf system couldn't load more than 16 slot card simultaneously.
N/A    RADIUS authentication for dialins failed after sustained
dialin/dialout traffic.
N/A    Routes learned from RADIUS showed up twice in the routing table.

Enhancements in 1.3Ap13:

* Support for Rockwell K56 code version 1.140.
* Distinct ID sequences for RADIUS authentication and accounting
* Unique RADIUS accounting IDs based on source port number
* Command for displaying a WAN session's data
* Support for 64K and 56K calls over channels using R2 signaling
* Slot card and system uptime information
* Terminal server login timeout
* Fatal crash information on console
* Multiple NFAS groups on T1 and T3 cards
* MP and MP+ bundled channels span HDLC cards and shelves

Known problem in 1.3Ap13:

When a single dial-in session uses more than four channels and VJ
compression is enabled, throughput drops off rapidly.
