I think so. The MAX never disables a modem automatically in this way. The only time the MAX puts a modem on the disabled or unavailable list is when it first boots up and a modem fails POST (hardware diagnostics). The MAX will put a modem on the suspect list if it fails 8 calls in sequence (or the first 4 calls placed to it), and those modems will then be put at the bottom of the pool. It is for the administrator to take modems out of service *IF* they determine that the modems really are faulty. (There are non-problem reasons that modems "fail" calls including failed-authentication, line noise problems....so it's not deemed appropriate for the MAX to take the step of removing the modem from active duty). >Alex P > >On Tue, 7 Oct 1997, Eric Reeves wrote: > >> On Mon, 6 Oct 1997 ttt@harborside.com wrote: >> >> > Hello, >> > >> > My syslog is reporting Modem 7:8 bad last 8 calls. >> > The console screen looks normal. >> > Hardware is 4004 with 48x56K >> > >> > Any hints as to a resolution? >> > >> >> Last time I saw this happen, I just rebooted the Max and that seemed to >> take care of it.
