I'm still in desperate need of help with our max4000 :( Email to support@ascend.com seems to yield nothing more than a ticket number, so I'll once again try my luck here. We really need to resolve the problems below. I'm the support guy at our company (we're an ISP) and the customer complaints are costing me a lot of sleep!! Furthermore, in November we were planning to upgrade our remote locations with four additional max's. This upgrade is currently on hold due to the problems we are seeing. Before I get to the bugs, here's our configuration: Max 4000 (4030 E1 bundle), 2 x 16 K56 boards, eik.m40 5.0Ap27, two PRI lines (Net5, German DSS1), Ascend Radius, PPP only accounts Problems: 1. during at a fairly medium load (20 users) we get complaints about substandard V.34 performance (avg. around 1.8K/s *local* traffic). During several support calls by our users, I pinged their IP's and it appears that their transfer stalls completely for a few seconds every 10-20 seconds. 2. Some users connecting with ISDN X.75 complain about loss of carrier during the first 30 seconds after the connection. Other users can stay online (with X.75) just fine and transfer data for a few minutes, but lose their protocol soon after (no more pings, no DNS, PPP and/or TCP/IP go dead). I also verified this via ping. This is a very severe problem, because many of our customers connect via external ISDN TA's that only do X.75. The fact that the max 4000 supports X.75 was *the* main reason to get it. I can also rule out any kind of config problem on the customers side because there were no problems whatsoever with or old Livingston PM2E / external X.75 TA solution. 3. Users dialing in via the terminal server mode (we offer uucp via rlogin) are seeing severe stalls in transfer and/or loss of carrier. This mainly happens to the V.34 callers, although one customer with X.75 also appears to have this problem. Again, when the load on the max goes up (again with around 20 users) UUCP-callers are much more likely running into this problem. Finally the good news. About 30% of our customers are connecting with ISDN HDLC/SyncPPP and they get great transfer rates and have no complaints whatsever... Any help is welcome! I would also very much appreciate possible hints and tips by the Ascend folks on this list how I could approach Ascend support concerning the above problems, be it by Email or phone.
