Actually the beep was there already in p13 for the 4000, 2000 and 1800.
It may have been there earlier on the 4000, the 1800 got "k" first with
p13, and p13 was the first version I ever saw in conjunction with K56.
It was definately not there in i13, but that's another story anyway.
It seems the pitch of the tone has been changed a bit in p20 so modems
notoriously taking it for a busy are no longer fooled. But there will
likely be other trashy old cheap modems that take _this_ for a busy,
we all know Murphy rules.

BTW, if anyone hears me shouting - are we EVER gonna see DIALOUT ?
We sold a 2000 with K56 Modems and MAXDial to a customer, and sooner or
later he will get really upset...
