(ASCEND) MAX-4000 and Alcatel System 12 with R2 signalling?

Hi!

I have a serious problem right now. My task is to force the MAX-4000 to
answer the incoming calls coming from Alcatel System 12 switch.
The problem is that we can use only the R2 signaling in E1 trunks between
MAX and S-12.
Now the MAX can see the trunks. It shows the good state of E1 lines (all
dashes in status window, 's' mark for signaling (16th) time slot and 'LA'
status). But any call from the external phone/modem cannot be done into the
MAX.
I've enabled the trace of the activity of the trunks in Alcatel. When I
looked at the log I could see the following: when the switch begins sending
digits of the called subscriber, the sequence stops for the following
reason: after the first digit complete S-12 waits for the MAX to respond
with one of the three signals, according to R2 protocol. The first signal is
'A1' which means that MAX requests the calling subscriber category. The
second is the signal to query the next digit of the called number. And the
third one is to send the 'B6' signal which gives the switch the 'Subscriber
is available' state, and therefore the switch can initiate the 'open line'
state. BUT MAX DOESN'T RESPOND ANYTHING after the receiving the first digit
of the called number! ALcatel waits for the large amount of time (more that
1000ms) and then clears the call and returns the 'inter-station busy' tone
to the handset.
I've tried the different setups in Alcatel and MAX4000 (and MAX has a few
parameters in E1 line profile). Nothing could I change :-((

Has anybody tested the same configuration (MAX4000 and Alcatel System 12
with R2)? Can it work? Please help me, if you can!
