We use RIPV2 with summarisation - it works just great from the Max to a
Cisco. For example (from a "show ip route rip" on the Cisco - note, to
hear RIPV2 on a Cisco you need IOS 11.1 or later):
R 210.55.236.49/32 [120/2] via 202.27.176.41, 00:00:10, Ethernet0
R 210.55.236.48/29 [120/2] via 202.27.176.41, 00:00:10, Ethernet0
R 210.55.236.129/32 [120/2] via 202.27.176.42, 00:00:00, Ethernet0
R 210.55.236.128/26 [120/2] via 202.27.176.42, 00:00:00, Ethernet0
Note that the Max sends a /32 for the connected interface, and a seperate
summary, around it.
Mind you, I've configured the Max for RIP-summary=YES, and
Pool-summary=YES as well. ;)
I used to use a Cisco route filter to junk all the /32 for the pools to
keep my routing table size down.
