(ASCEND) No Transmit/Receive

I have 3 4048's with 6.1.3
I started having problems long before 6.1.3 although.
Some modems, especially some USRobotics v.34 modems, will get connected
great and run for a certain amount of time, from 10 minutes to 2 hours, and
suddenly stop transmitting or receiving data.  The connection is still up
but they can't go to any web sites, transmit or receive any data.

Has anyone seen this problem or how should I go about troubleshooting this?
