I'm doing this on max 6000's also running 6.1.3 with AAC ai11. It works
like a charm, so the mac people at work tell me. Its rather simple too.
Just make sure you've turned on appletalk routing on the max and then set
up normal ppp entries /etc/raddb/users and you should be fine.
