Re: (ASCEND) least droppy 6+ release

Hi,

As Andre said, 7.0b6 if you're using Id Auth=Prefer and/or MPP, otherwise
you might try your luck with 7.0.0. FWIW, the latter is running just fine
on our non-CLID and PPP-only boxes.

This one was fixed in 7.0b2 on Sept. 1st ("TR 250249 After a period of
time Max Stops routing packets to dial-up P50s"), incredible that it still
hasn't been worked out in the 6.1 branch.
Back when we were running 6.1.X this bug caused us *extreme* headaches.
Standard ISDN dial-up connections (HDLC, syncPPP) with virtually any hardware
on the other side, would stop transporting data after a certain amount of
time. The bug was not related to the P50 only, almost all of our ISDN
callers were affected.
Often as soon as 2 minutes into the connection, sometimes after 2 hours the
connection went "zombie". Since this bug went on for quite some time, we lost
several customers who would not tolerate the "instability" of our access
hardware.
I would consider this a major show-stopper, IMHO anyone using ISDN and V.90
should not consider 6.1.X.
