Back when we decided to deploy V.90 for good, the upgrade did cause
some major headaches, especially with the sudden failure of LQM in
6.1.X and the associated disconnects.
Most of your customers will probably get along fine with the V.90 Max
firmware, many others will first have to upgrade their modem firmware to
get rid of excessive disconnects (early client-side V.90 implementations
were extremely flaky). FYI, we're on V.90 releases since June and
basically with client-side firmware improvements, V.90/flex-related
support calls/emails have dropped to an all-time low over the past few
months.
