(ASCEND) port routing?
I don't normally pay attention to this because I normally
have PRIs and never really had to worry about it, but I
thought I'd mention it just in case...
I recently had a MAX go down in a node where I had a mix
of PRIs and Digital Trunks (channelized T1s). I had a free
port on one of my MAXes, so we swung the channelized
T1 over. This MAX (MAX4048, 3 16-port modem cards, 7.0.1 firmware)
happened to have a PRI in it already, but I didn't think it would
make any big difference.
I set up the WAN paramaters on the channelized T1, namely:
Ch 1=Switched
Ch 1 #=
Ch 1 Slot=4
Ch 1 Prt/Grp=0
..
..
..
Ch 24=Switched
Ch 24 #=
Ch 24 Slot=5
Ch 24 Prt/Grp=0
Now, I assumed that meant that calls coming into channel 1 of my
digital trunk would be routed to card slot 4 (16 port modem card).
What I found when callers came in was this:
I Session Line: Slot: Tx Rx Service Host User
O ID Chan Port Data Rate Type[mpID] Address Name
I 283208627 2:1 3:9 40000 26400 PPP
I 283208623 2:2 3:5 28800 28800 PPP
I 283208624 2:3 3:6 28800 26400 PPP
Now, nowwhere in my digital trunk configuration did I even mention
slot 3 for incoming calls.
Is this a bug? Is this something that has changed in some of the recent
firmware (ie: the system automatically routing analog modem calls to
an analog modem slot if no other types of cards exist on my system?)
I'm just curious more than anything else. I'm just glad to have
restored my node to a working condition :)
Well... that's it I guess. Any feedback would be interesting.
Later!
