In my experience, if you can't get to the Diagnostics mode, this
indicates that there is an active TCP connection to it already...
unless you can get to this connection and kill it, you have no choice
but to reboot the Max to restore this ability.
To check whether this is the case, go to Terminal Server mode
(Ctrl-D, E) and do a SH TCP CONN. You will probably see the
connection there.
