(ASCEND) Frank questions about 6.1.X/V.90 etc.
Just wanted to run a few things by everyone since the pressure to upgrade
to V.90 is ever-increasing. Currently we are running a hugely stable
environment with 4 Maxen (4000/4004s) under 5.0Ap42, all have been up now
for about 120 days(!!). We have few modem problems. Everyone seems to be
able to connect pretty well.
Only one of our boxes has 56K-Capable modems in it, but it's been
recommended by several others, including Ascend engineers, that if we
upgrade only one box we're likely to have problems.
We run stacking and OSPF in all of our boxes.
Each box has 4 PRIs in it, 2 for ISDN and 2 for Modem. As such, we have
assigned a block of 64 IPs (for dialup) to each max out of a single Class
C since they each have 48 modems appiece in them. I thought this may be
topical since the IP address leak problem has been reported by so many.
I notice there is no release to correct this problem yet; in fact it's
been over a month since 6.1.3 came out. I suppose I can bite the bullet
and try 6.1.3 since there are people successfully using it but I hate to
"rock the boat" if you know what I mean...
Any ideas when "6.1.NextVersion" will be out? Should I upgrade or not?
Recommendations and ideas would be greately appreciated.
