(ASCEND) NAT kills throughput?

Has anyone else experienced the following problem?

P50's or P75's running 6.0.2 and Single IP NAT.

Workstations behind the Pipeline cannot pull more than 4K/s through
the Pipeline instead of the 8K/s you'd expect out of one channel or
16K/s out of 2 channels. This problem is consistent.

Turning off NAT enables data to be transfered at full throttle.
