Actually there is a draft RFC for such a standard. However the real reason
you won't see it (IMHO) is that each vendor implements certain PPP LCP
options and their values slightly differently. So if you normally dial into
a Max with MP just fine and all of a sudden your ISP adds another vendor's
box in the hunt group, you may have problems.
