(ASCEND) RADIUS Framed-Address problems

Hey all,

Before I start pulling my hair out, I'll just ask.

We really dont issue static addresses from our Ascend gear, but for our own
internal use it would be helpful, so I was messing with our RADIUS users
file and created an entry that looks like this:

xxxxx Password = "xxxxx"
        User-Service = Framed-User,
        Framed-Protocol = PPP,
        Framed-Address = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,
        Framed-Netmask = 255.255.255.255

Our usual profile looks like this, with IP addresses assigned from a pool on
defined on the MAX:

yyyyy Password = "yyyyy"
        User-Service = Framed-User,
        Framed-Protocol = PPP

If I connect using the first entry, no dice.  Using the second profile,
everything works like a charm.

These are MAX 4048s running 6.1.7 and Ascend RADIUS 1.16.

What gives?
