Demiliches and nightmares have the depletion attack which reduces any of your
stats, but it's only temporary (if it wasn't it would be really brutal). The
problem is that you can force crossfire to recalculate your stats by unwielding
your weapon. This makes it trivial to get your stats back.

Well the stake does do triple damage to vampires, it's just that stakes do 
physical damage and vampires are immune to physical damage 8-)
