HP-UX 9.03 installation

I've compiled 0.91.3 last night

I had no problems with the compilation or installation (well except for 
having to reinstall gcc - my old installation has been broken for too 
long anyway)...

but now crossfire refuses to load any saved characters...it seems to save
them just fine, but gives a bus error when it tries to load.

here's what it gives:

SIGBUS received
Emergency saves disabled, no save attempted
Cleaning up...

I've never had this trouble before. I will investigate further, but if someone
knows what's wrong do suggest it...
