Well, sorry for taking up folks' time, but I finaly realized there was a
clean way to make everyone happy.

I looked at how Mark's "cfclient" did it, and noticed that he kept track
of modifiers as  "Fire+key" as opposed to "Shift+key"

So the java client is going to allow keybindings like that.
