Hm... that would just speed up the character creation by a few seconds
(if the "limbo" map is small enough). I don't really think that's
necessary --- rolling the stats takes ages compared to selecting your
class, so it sounds like a lot of work without any benefit.

Setting the "home" is okay, but don't force players to use a temple as
home. Make your special altars changeable by the player, so we can put
one into the player-apartment map and the player can consecrate that
altar and use it as the "home" location, if he wishes. The cream on
top of that would be another altar in Scorn, so people are not forced
to recall into their apartment (or some other building).

If you insist on using temples, make sure there is a quick exit to Scorn.
It's just an annoyance to cast "word of recall" and be forced to walk
around half of the world before you can do anything.
