Re: CF: There are TWO crossfire mailing lists.

Before we jump on this too much, there are really more than that, as there are
several hosted on ifi. That said, if we move to real-time hosting the mail
lists (which is fine by me - I have no requirement that I have direct control of
the mailing lists), this is what I think should be set up:

crossfire-announce: As it is now - contains releases for new versions. With
CVS I am not making releases quite as often (before CVS, my making releases was
the only way to get integrated changes out to the public). In fact, someone
else could actually make releases now since it is all just based on CVS - the
main advantage to still making releases is it gets out on some more of the ftp
sites. The current behaviour of this mail list on ifi is that only I (or
frank/kjetil) can send messages to that list.

crossfire-devel (or -developers?): Developer mailing list. Technical
programming questions, updates to CVS, or the like go here. crossfire-bugs
should probably go here also. It actually might be nice for changes to CVS to
automatically get forwarded here, but that requires some customization on the
CVS repository, and if that is done, then it should probably be a daily journal
and not for each change as the later may create a lot of messaes

crossfire-info (or maybe -help): A non technical mailing list for questions
about gameplay (how do I solve this quest? What gods give what spells and the
like).

On other ones people can think of? If we are moving mailing list servers, now
is also the time to change the mailing list themselves.

I don't know if Frank may be able to assist us and get the current subscriber
base off the ifi machines or not. That may save a lot of work for people to get
themselves re-added (OTOH, having everyone re-add themselves may work good just
as a spring cleanup)
