The bookstore already has books on different monsters and such.  It
would make a lot of sense to have some low level adventurer's tale as a
cheap book, while some high wizard's diary might cost quite a bit of
money and provide hints to some particular dungeon or quest.

It could also add play value since if a player is sort of stuck looking
for stuff then he can always buy books which point player to interesting
stuff to do.
