I like the idea of requiring a fee for the long travels, as long as the
experienced players can buy a travel card. Again, it is an issue of
realism versus playability (and fun).
Mark suggested that the player should be in control of the boats and
should be able to travel anywhere in the sea (thus requiring some maps
in order to find the other cities). I like this very much. We could
use the dragon transports for (fast but not instant) travels between
fixed points and the boats for free travels in the seas.
But then the map designers would be tempted to put teleporters in some
hidden places so that they could travel faster. How could we prevent
this?
