I've only found two ways ...

Burning hands, at a distance, but it seems to destroy some of the items,
or Steambolt, which seems to not destroy as much.  I wish for realism;
the ice cubes should thaw out after a while, but I've never seen it
happen.

Dropping ice cubes used to take a while ... not sure if that is fixed.

Because they don't bother to communicate with other potential players
about sharing their time together?
