CF: Scorn Update Beta Release

           Scorn City Update -- Christmas to New Year 1998

Hea Yea Hea Yea...

Folk of the crossfire mailing list I hearby announce the initial
Beta Release of the Scorn City Upgrade.  

The Port has been dredged.  The gates updated.  Goth and Gorks have been moved
and numerous other things fixed or added.

The Date of this release is 30 December 1998, and marked as 981230.  No
doubt more releases will occur before the final Release.  So people with
problems, suggestions, additions etc.  Please mail me (and the list)

New maps for `temples', houses, and posibily ``The Rowdy Sailor'' Tavern
is especially welcome.

You can download the updated maps and patches from either
   http://www.sct.gu.edu.au/~anthony/CF/
in australia or
   ftp://ftp.ifi.uio.no/pub/crossfire/incoming/
in norway (minus a full copy of ALL maps with changes).

Each release will consist of four files....
  
   scorn_readme_{DATE}.txt
      The name readme file of the changes, additions, and notes since
      this update ws started (included in both TAR files below).
   scorn_maps_{DATE}.tar.gz
      A full (very large) copy of all maps with the updated scorn maps
      installed.  (Not on norway ftp server)
   scorn_major_{DATE}.tar.gz
      A tar file of all the new maps and maps with major changes. For
      example the main `city' map of Scorn.
   scorn_minor_{DATE}.patch
      A patch of any other map NOT in the `major' tar file above.
      Most of the modified maps are just minor exit changes, or a small
      addition (like a Gate Pass as an extra prize).

In the future I may also include a Gnu-diff patch, which will create the
new files and directories as well.

To install the updated maps download the `major' and `minor' files
(see above) and do the following (in any order) in the crossfire
server library directory.
   * De-gzip and untar the `major' tar file to overwrite and add
     maps with large amounts of changes
   * run "patch" with the `minor' patch file.
Both actions MUST be performed, just one or the other is no good.
