Seeking employment
I am currently looking for a job in the Twin Cities area, preferably
somewhere close to the University of Minnesota. I would prefer a job
where I can work with Linux, although I do have a strong background of
installation and maintenance of DOS and Windows based systems.
I believe my primary skills lie in the field of troubleshooting. I have
sorted out hardware and software conflicts for many years, with the
occasional foray into source code to fix simple breakages. Because of
this, I have been exposed to many different programming languages
ranging from compiled languages like C, Pascal, and Java, to scripted
languages including Perl, PHP, and Unix shell scripts. I have written
some utilities for my own use, and have done a fair amount of work on my
own website, which is largely powered by Perl scripts.
Networking is another field I have worked in. I have a good understand
of client-side TCP/IP configuration, and have done some work with
Linux's IPChains facilities, including IP Masquerading.
I have a resume with a little more information at
[http://www.tc.umn.edu/~hick0088/resume.html] If your organization is
interested in my skills, I'd love to hear from you via e-mail at
hick0088@tc.umn.edu
Due to an unusual housing schedule, I should warn that I will not be
available to work in the Twin Cities area until June, but I should be
able to meet face-to-face before then if prior arrangements are made.
Thanks
